The Area
The area is served by two hospitals; Summers County Hospital is located in Hinton and Princeton Community Hospital is located in Princeton. Shopping includes Mercer Mall with its 70 plus retailers and Tamarac- featuring "The Best of West Virginia" the nations first showcase of handcrafts, fine art and regional cuisine.
There's much history tucked away in these mountains worth discovery. Hinton for example is a historical railroad town formed in 1871 as a support for the railroad and coal industries. Both are gone now and Hinton remains as a community rich in history and natural beauty. Visit the museums, take the historical tour or volunteer your time to the various organizations needing the time and skills you have.
Pipestem State Park and it’s over 4,000 rugged acres offers 2 golf courses,indoor and outdoor pool, tennis, horseback riding, biking, hiking, 2 lodges, 25 cottages, campground and much more.
Bluestone Wildlife Management Area is noted for being on of the most popular hunting and fishing areas in West Virginia. It has over 17,000 acres and offers boating (including rentals) hunting, fishing, camping, etc. Bluestone State Park has over 2,100 acres including Bluestone Lake and offers much to the water enthusiast. Primitive camping sites are located at various spots around the lake. Access to many of these is only by boat!
